The Air Jordan 3 “Katrina” is the sneaker with a bittersweet backstory. In 2006, the flood waters of Hurricane Katrina destroyed many homes and businesses in New Orleans. The Air Jordan 3 “Katrina” was originally released at a charity auction to raise money to help the hurricane victims in the aftermath of the destructive storm. Although it’s unclear just how much money the exclusive shoe earned for the Gulf Coast hurricane survivors, I know that the latest drop last month was an epic milestone in sneaker culture.

The Air Jordan 3 “Katrina” 2017 is an ideal choice for sneakerheads of all walks of life. I could wear these to the mall just to be seen solo, or I could get a few pairs for the family. While the original release in 2006 were limited editions, this last release of the Air Jordan 3 “Katrina” was made in various sizes. If I were so fortunate as to find a pair of factory-laced Air Jordan 3 “Katrina” sneakers in my size, I’d really have some bragging rights for my retro Jordan collection.

The Air Jordan 3 “Katrina” of 2017, which is sometimes called Hall of Fame, has a cool white, cement gray, black and red colorway. These mid-tops hit right at my ankle, and I’d pair them with a ton of casual looks for off-court action. The shoe features the jumpman logo on the tongue and heel, and it’s piping of red along the base of the heel and tongue makes the sneaker stand out. The sole has swathes of red at the foot pad and white at the heel, and it is outlined in gray.

While the Air Jordan 3 “Katrina” of 2017 won’t be nearly as pricey as a retro pair of deadstock Air Jordan 3 “Katrina” sneakers from 12 years ago, the shoes are still a major wardrobe investment. When wearing them, I’d let them shine as the focal point of my outfit. I’d avoid overly baggy jeans that tend to overshadow these super fire kicks.
