Derek Jeter is teaming up to release a new pair of Air Jordans, a low-cut sneaker with a Yankees-inspired blue upper, white midsole, milky sole, and waxed laces. A very Derek Jeter-specific embroidered “2” is sewn into the heel and along the insole, as well as the “RE2PECT” inscription on the tongue and insole. Originally scheduled for early Spring 2018, a final release date will bring the Air Jordans to stores sooner.
The upper is made with a blue suede, with matching laces. The color is inspired by the navy blue of the Yankees baseball team’s uniforms, and the 2 is a Jeter-specific addition, from his uniform. The color is the binary blue/sail-binary blue, with a soft look.
Sneakerprophet_ released a few photos of the Air Jordan’s, with pinoe77 giving us an even more detailed look into the shoe, its style, and it’s release date of May 14, 2018. Pinoe77 gave us a behind-the-scenes look at the shoe in-real-life.
Air Jordan had a limited amount of a higher top version of the Jeter shoe outside Yankee Stadium in 2017, but only a few were available – and with a $40,000 USD price tag, pretty unattainable for most people. Five were given away via scratch-off auction, with this 11 Low pair having many of the same features of the limited edition release.
This new Jeter brand will be available at select Jordan-brand retailers.
